Struggling to stick to a weight loss plan? Master the joyful weight loss method and lose 50 kg in a year with no rebound.
According to an investigation by *The Washington Post*, 26,000 weight loss methods have been published in the United States over the past 70 years. However, only 10 out of 200 people successfully lose weight using these methods, a success rate of just 5%.
"Success" here means at least reaching the target weight. In other words, 95 out of 100 people fail before reaching their target weight, citing "lack of consistency" as the reason.
Of these 5% of successes, only 1 out of 200, or 0.5%, successfully maintains their weight.
Regardless of the method used, most people succeed within the first one to three weeks, as the initial stages of weight loss are the most effective. In the following weeks to two months, a plateau occurs, and 90% of people give up at this point.
Therefore, the failure to lose weight is not due to not being able to lose weight, but rather the inability to maintain consistency. This makes it easy to imagine how difficult it is to stick to a weight loss plan.
In fact, I myself have experienced two successful weight loss attempts followed by failures. Each time, I lost weight to an astonishing degree. The first time I lost 15 kilograms, the second time 20 kilograms – both remarkable results.
However, both times I couldn't stick to it, and the weight rebounded.
The lessons I learned from these two failures are: "A diet that can't be maintained is meaningless," and "Things that you have to endure but find no enjoyment are impossible to stick to."
Persistence – that's the biggest challenge in weight loss.
The first weight loss method I tried was the so-called "carrot and apple diet." It was a book published in the US, with a bright red cover and an astonishingly thick page count. More than half the pages were filled with data from people who had successfully lost weight, complete with before-and-after photos. Seeing so many people, I was convinced it wasn't fake, so I tried it immediately.
The method was simple: drink more than 2 liters of water every day, and eat only raw carrots, apples, and plums for each meal. Also, eat only vegetables, chicken breast, and lean seafood. You can drink as many calorie-free drinks as you want, like coffee.
That's how I lost weight.
Looking back now, of course I could lose weight that way. Even without forcing myself so much, there must be many other ways to lose weight.
The problem was, after a month, the smell of raw carrots made me nauseous, and I couldn't eat them at all. I was also tired of the taste of plums. Plus, I was constantly hungry and couldn't work.
As a result, after six months, although I had lost 15 kilograms, I indulged myself a little bit of regular food, and my weight rebounded immediately.
Learning from this experience, I decided never to try those "only-eat-this-other-food-a-method" weight loss methods again.
The second time I tried to lose weight, I paid much more attention to a balanced diet.
Learning from my previous experience, I started by creating an online magazine and publishing my weight loss diary online. This way, even if I was starving and unable to work, the online magazine would still be productive. I also consulted a registered dietitian every week. A weight loss plan with expert assistance should be foolproof, right? And so, I began my second attempt at weight loss.
