A sense of well-being is an accelerator for weight loss: the physiological mechanisms of truly enjoying life and resisting overeating.
Living life seriously will definitely lead to weight loss. The *Studio Ghibli Design Sketches Exhibition* was the first exhibition I visited. Perhaps it was because it was my first time visiting this type of exhibition, and my expectations were too high, leading to a disappointment; or perhaps it wasn't my style, but I found it quite boring and had no interest whatsoever. However, to write this Weibo post, I still pretended to be very interested, smiling broadly in the photos; I even put on a show, writing some very profound words. Little did I know that the most memorable thing that day was that after my friend Zhiyi and I finished our squid ink bread, we had a huge appetite and ate sandwiches, then we walked and talked from the exhibition hall for two hours without realizing it. The next day, I had lost 400 grams. The *Van Gogh Exhibition* was the second exhibition I visited. This time, I went with my friend Shangen, and I still felt completely uninterested. I guess I really don't know how to appreciate art! However, to project an "artsy girl" vibe, I still took photos, laughing for who knows how long, until my face hurt. Next, we walked along the stone wall path of Deoksugung Palace. We browsed the free market, snagged some bargains, and bought delicious waffles from a popular waffle shop. Then, chatting and laughing all the way from Deoksugung Palace, we easily walked to Yongsan Station. The next day, I had lost 200 grams. I write in my diary every day, recording the little joys of ordinary days. Although every exhibition day eventually turns into a trip of eating, drinking, and walking with friends, which is a bit of a reversal of priorities, looking back at my previous diaries, I always find that I've lost weight the day after visiting an exhibition. Perhaps it's because I fully enjoy spending time with friends, happily eating, chatting about interesting topics, laughing, taking beautiful photos, shopping happily, and walking energetically with people I like, enjoying every detail of life. My body can feel it, and I gradually become lighter. You don't necessarily have to set aside time for exercise or spend money on a gym membership; nor do you have to eat only chicken breast salad, fruits, or vegetables to lose weight. If you diligently enjoy your life and truly savor it, you'll find yourself getting thinner day by day without even realizing it! Don't put too much pressure on yourself, and your weight won't skyrocket. My previous weight was 103 kg, and now it's 50.5 kg. The weight I've lost is more than my current weight. I often hear people say that even though I've lost a lot of weight, my skin is still incredibly elastic, and my figure is well-sculpted; I also hear people say that although my figure isn't particularly great, it's not bad either. Compared to other women, I have more muscle mass and less body fat. This is the result of correct eating habits and diligent exercise. Normally, as soon as you lose some weight, your skin will become loose; but the reason I've lost 52 kg and my skin still retains elasticity is that I've never neglected the muscles in my limbs, abdomen, and back. In addition to a normal diet and muscle training, I also train my "mental muscles." To lose weight healthily, you must prioritize "mental health." Giving someone candy disguised as a cold will make their condition improve-this is the placebo effect. I once tested this method on my brother. My brother has a poor digestive system and often suffers from constipation. One night, I really wanted to eat jelly, but I had an important filming session the next morning, and eating it might be too much of a burden. So I asked my brother to eat it for me (otherwise, I probably would have eaten it). I lied to him and told him it was lactic acid bacteria jelly, and that he should chew it carefully before swallowing. While eating the jelly, he said, "Let's get to work in the intestines! See you in the intestines." The next morning, he said his intestines hadn't felt so smooth in a long time. This shows how important mindset is. "Stress" is the biggest enemy of weight loss and the root of all diseases. Everyone experiences stress, including myself, but I'm able to withstand it thanks to my strong "mental muscles," which allow me to neutralize stress with positive thoughts. If you're trying to lose weight, I highly recommend watching funny movies, because sad movies can make you gain weight. What?! You're probably thinking, "How is that possible?" It's true, and research has confirmed it. When you're depressed, you tend to eat more. A research team at the University of Würzburg in Germany conducted an experiment on mood changes after watching happy, sad, and neutral films, involving 80 men and women aged 19 to 47. After watching the films, the participants drank sweet, bitter, sour, flavorful, and oily beverages, and their taste accuracy was tested. The results showed that those who watched sad films were completely unaware of the oiliness of the drinks. This suggests that depression can impair bodily control, causing us to unintentionally eat more. This tendency implies that people with depression often have obesity problems. Therefore, it's crucial to remember that cultivating a healthy mind is more important than sculpting a physique. The body is not a garbage can; never overeat. Whenever my mother saw that my younger brother, Shijun, hadn't finished his meal (I never left any food), she would say, "This was grown by farmers with their blood and sweat; not a single grain can be left!" When I was in school, my teachers would always say, "No leftovers! I won't let you go until you've finished your food!" (This doesn't apply to me either.) Although I've never been in the military, whenever I see those strict drill instructors on TV saying, "No leftovers!" I feel that "leaking food" is an unforgivable mistake. Leaving too much food is indeed bad, but forcing yourself to finish it all isn't good either. When my mother was a teenager, she was very slim, 162 cm tall and 42 kg; but now she's gained 20 kg, weighing 62 kg (Mom, sorry, I gave you away). Mothers often say, "I used to be very thin too." Actually, one of the reasons mothers gain weight is the habit of "not wanting to leave any food uneaten and always finishing it all." Eating more than what your body needs, out of reluctance to leave any, is no longer simply eating; it's throwing food into our precious bodies like garbage. When excess food accumulates in the body, it forms fat or cholesterol, causing obesity. If obesity weren't a bad thing, it wouldn't be a problem, but unbeknownst to many, obesity is the root of all diseases, including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, insulin secretion disorders, and anemia. There's a saying, "The leftovers will be eaten in hell." You don't need to wait until hell; if you force yourself to stuff leftovers into an already full body, like a garbage can, one day your body will retaliate. Pay attention to consuming quality carbohydrates. Frankly, I'm actually a "carbohydrate addict." Because I love rice and side dishes, when I'm at home, I often cook, and naturally, I eat a lot of rice. Eating "in moderation" is fine, but I not only eat too much, but I also don't exercise all day and am often idle, resulting in very low calorie expenditure. If excessive carbohydrate intake didn't harm health, I wouldn't be advising you all; however, it's a major culprit in obesity, diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, dementia, and other diseases. However, carbohydrates don't necessarily turn into fat. Only when intake exceeds the body's needs will they be used as unusable energy and stored as body fat. Therefore, once you start losing weight, the first priority is to "reduce carbohydrate intake." However, completely eliminating carbohydrates is also not a good approach, because cutting out carbohydrates will only stimulate more appetite, causing us to eat more unhealthy foods. Carbohydrates help secrete serotonin, a hormone that evokes feelings of happiness, improving mood and helping to eliminate intense hunger. Therefore, saying that carbohydrates are the main cause of obesity may only be half true; "good carbohydrates" are actually important nutrients for getting rid of obesity. Good carbohydrates refer to complex, high-quality polysaccharide carbohydrates, which are rich in water-soluble dietary fiber and easily create a feeling of fullness. Therefore, it is recommended that people with diabetes and obesity eat more brown rice or barley, as well as fruits that help with vitamin intake and reduce stress, sweet potatoes or potatoes, pumpkin, oats, and other high-quality carbohydrates. Try to avoid eating simple carbohydrates such as snacks, cookies, and bread to prevent fat formation.
